GOLF HIGHLIGHTS 2017

Few Reminders:

  1. We can’t have 5-somes go out in the first group, especially when they are as slow as Kaleta, It just jams up the entire 9 if the first group isn’t keeping pace.
  1. Blind Bogey, it is your responsibility to put in your score after the round for the blind bogey.  If you pay and then you don’t put your score in afterwards, then you might miss out on the pot.  Lou and I aren’t going to look up scores anymore!
  1. League dues need to be paid in full by the 3rd week of league.  If your team isn’t paid in full, your team forfeits all the points from the first three weeks.  So make sure to pay your Captains on time.

Teams Paid:

Although the shitty weather last night, Week 1 started out pretty well.

Many people came up to me and complimented Foxford Hills and the Head Pro Charlie Kane.  I also agree with the comments and I know Charlie really appreciates our league coming over to Foxford, it was a great start to the year!

Reminder:  The Blind Bogey and Closest to the Pin are $2.00 each to enter, last night we were short again; so please make sure you put in the money.  Remember, it’s the honor system, so don’t be a jag bag!

Final Reminder:  League Fees are due the third week of league.  So if dues aren’t paid on time, your team will lose the first three weeks of points.  So please pay your captain on time!

LOWLIGHTS:  Ball Huggers whole team was missingL

We are considering fining forfeits in the future.  It was brought up to have a $25 per forfeit fine.  For example, the Ball Huggers would have had to pay $100 for last Thursday.

The fine would need to be paid by the team by the next week.  If the fine is not paid, then the team would not get any points for that week.  The forfeit money then would go into a pot.  Then at the end of the year, we would have a team drawing for the pot.  We know shit happens, but forfeits suck for everyone.  People like to compete and have fun and when forfeits happen, it’s not as fun.

I think it’s a great idea and maybe we’ll initiate this on week 12 for the rest of this season and see how it works.

Note: George Schendel is missing his HTC Phone, so please let him know if you know where it might be.

8/31/17Highlights: Rich Hickey turned 50.  Happy Birthday Old Man!!

Note: Next week and the rest of the season, we need to start having foursomes start on different holes in a shotgun style format.  So instead of waiting to tee off at the 1st and 10th tee box, take your foursome to another open hole on the nine that you are playing and just start your nine on that hole.  It’s just going to be too hard to get guys in if we don’t do this.  However, we still need to respect the playing public.  Don’t cut in front of someone unless there is a large enough gap to not impede their pace of play!

Blind Bogey Winning Number: #37, Greg Baron $31, Steve Schmidt $31

Closest to the Pin Winners:, Hole #5: Dennis Jackson $36, Hole #15: Scott Berry $36

9/7/17The race is tightening at the top.  Hopefully the Rash can do something next week and take down the Troopers!  Please read the note below.  We really need to shot gun start it if we can.  If we can create some open holes for the late comers (HorHay & Berry), then hopefully their groups can get in in the day light.

Blind Bogey… 3 winners  #45  $22.00 ea., Mike Harvel ,Doug Oberbroeckling , Rich Penza: Brad has your money.

9/14/17Lowlights:  Prairie Isle could give a shit if we stay or go.  I have never seen such poor customer service from a Head Golf Professional in my life and I don’t think we should give our business to this place anymore.  So I will be getting quotes from Chalet and possibly Turnberry as an option for our second course next year, or we’ll just stay at Foxford the whole year as Charlie the HP has really been very accommodating to our league!

Another lowlight is all the forfeits this year.  Next year, team Captains really need to make some changes with your team members.  There are a lot of people that want to get into this league and who will show up play on a consistent basis, so you might want to pick up some of these new players. With having 7 players on a team, we really shouldn’t have as many forfeits as we have had.

PLEASE READ: We will be playing at Foxford Hills the last two weeks of our league.  So September 21 & September 28th will be at Foxford.  Charlie has blocked off his tee sheet in front of our league, so if foursomes are ready to go, we can start earlier than 4:30.  This way, we shouldn’t have any problems with daylight.  Also as a thank you to our league, Charlie is setting up a free taco buffet on our last night and he is giving a free range token to everyone that plays that night.

Also attached is the PLAY DAY PARTY SIGN UP SHEET.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you can make it or not.  Also, let me know if your significant other is attending and what their name is.

Blind Bogey Winning Number: #44, George “HorHay” Schendel $60

Closest to the Pin Winners:, Hole #8: Craig Nickell $30, Hole #17: Steve Schmidt $30

9/21/17Lowlights:  Foxford Hills forgot to put out the Closest to the Pin markers last night.  However, Charlie and his staff apologized three times and Charlie said he’ll make it up to us by putting out longest putt signs on holes 9 & 18.  The winner of each will receive two sleeves of Titleist Pro V golf balls, which is a nice gesture!  If you want to get into the longest putt game, you’ll need to sign up for the closest to the pin game.  Only those people who are in the closest to the pin game will have a chance to win in the longest putt game.

Highlights:  Congratulations to the Par Troopers!!  They won the league last night, so now the rest of us are just playing for the best money spots.
