2019 LEAGUE MATTERS

Meeting recap: 2019

6/24/19 UPDATE, SEASON 1 FINISHED

Guys,

The first Season for 2019 is officially in the record books and the Chub Dynasty is back!

I know there were some growing pains with the new APP, but overall; it went fairly smooth. So thanks again to Giacomo & Lou to get this up and running.

We do have a little issue still with the starting of the second season, but Giacomo is trying to work it out with the developers.  So as soon as he has an update, he’ll let us all know.

I’ll send the match sheets out later this week after we figure out the issues with setting up the APP for Season 2.

Anyway, below is the final results for the 2019 Season 1.

Final Results 2019 Season 1 Points PAYOUT
1st Chubs 97 $300.00
2nd Ass Pipes 83 $175.00
2nd Road Rash 83 $175.00
4th Shanker Sores 77 $100.00

Just to review how these seasons and playoffs will work, please read below:

First half of the season will start on April 25th and go thru June 20th (9 Weeks)  We will start at Prairie Isle this year and end the season at Foxford Hills

We will have Payouts for the teams that are in 1st thru 4th place.

The second half of the season will be a whole new season.  It will start on June 27th and go thru August 29th (9 Weeks)  Note: The week of 4th of July will be off.

Again, we will have Payout for the teams that are in 1st thru 4th place.

If there is a tie for 4th place, the tied teams will pick one team member to play in a sudden death playoff.  In the sudden death playoff, handicaps will be used.  Also, each team will pick a player not knowing who their opponent is until the sudden death playoff begins.  The teams will need to write down on a piece of paper and hand them in to Eric, Lou or Giacomo as to who they choose to play in the sudden death playoff.  Eric, Lou or Giacomo will pick out of a hat which 9 the playoff will start on.  The playoff winner will be determined by whoever wins the first hole by having the lowest score, again using their handicaps.

Playoff Championship

The Playoff Championship will be only one day, held on September 5th at Prairie Isle

The winners of each season are automatically in the Playoff Championship.  The Playoff seed ranking would be determined by the combined seasons points.  Since the winners of each season are automatically in, then the remaining 4 teams with the most combined points, will make up the final four teams.  If two teams are tied with the cumulative points, then a coin flip will determine the seeding.

Then the playoff format would be as follows:

1st vs. 6th

2nd vs. 5th

3rd vs. 4th

The payout for the Playoff Championship will be for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.

We will then take the cumulative points from both seasons plus (+) the winning points from the playoff match and the teams with the 3 highest points total, wins the 1st thru 3rd payout.  The captains did vote on an additional 10 points for the playoff win.  So the max a team could win during the playoffs is 26 points.  This way, the lower seeded teams have a chance to be in the money if they win their playoff match.  Ties for the playoff will be broken by a putt off on the putting green.  Eric, Lou or Giacomo will determine the putts.

Guys,

We had our final captains meeting a couple of weeks ago.  Most of the below stayed the same, but there were a few changes, so be sure to read the notes again.

We are still considering do scoring with an APP, but Lou and Giacomo are still working out the details.  So, Lou will advise us of any changes.

Final Meeting recap:

1.  Prices for Foxford & Prairie Isle are the same as 2018.  Lou & Eric will also speak Quentin about their promises they didn’t keep in terms of their overall customer service.

2.  We voted NO on subs.  However we did agree that if a team wants to add an 8th player to their roster, they are welcomed to do that.  The 8th player will still need to pay the yearly league dues.

3.  For the 2019 season, we are raising the league dues to $65.  The increased dues is for our potential new software that we might buy and for the Playoff Championship that we will have this year (see below for more info on the Championship)  As of right now, the new software would cost each individual $5 per year to use the App.  For everyone that played in the league last year, we’ll probably offset some of the $65 league fee with the money that we still have from the Play Day money we never used, any new player would need to pay the $65 league fee for 2019.

4.   We voted NO on adding more teams.

5.  Captains will be much more proactive going forward in helping Lou & Eric run league events.  This will be mainly for the play day events and the Playoff Championship.

6.  FORFEITS:  If we still happen to have a Forfeit, you still need to play your match to win the 2 points.  However, Lou will only enter your score so that it equals your current handicap.  This will stop the sandbagging on Forfeited matches.

7.  We all voted to shorten the season to 18 weeks, with a new format.  The season will have two separate halves of the season, with payouts for each half and a Playoff Championship at the end:

First half of the Season TEE Times are 4:15 to 5:15

First half of the season will start on April 25th and go thru June 20th (9 Weeks)  We will start at Prairie Isle this year and end the season at Foxford Hills

We will have Payouts for the teams that are in 1st to 4th place.

Second half of the Season TEE Times are 4:15 to 5:15

The second half of the season will be a whole new season.  It will start on June 27th and go thru August 29th (9 Weeks)  Note: The week of 4th of July will be off.

Again, we will have Payout for the teams that are in 1st to 4th place.

Playoff Championship

The Playoff Championship will be only one day, held on September 5th at Prairie Isle

The two winners of each half of the season are automatically in the Playoff Championship.  The Playoff seed ranking would be determined by the combined seasons points.  Since the two winners are automatically in, then the remaining 4 teams with the most combined points, will make up the final four teams.

Then the playoff format would be as follows:

1st vs. 6th

2nd vs. 5th

3rd vs. 4th

The payout would be for 1st thru 3rd place.  We would take the cumulative points from both halves of the season plus (+) the winning points from the playoff match and the teams with the 3 highest points total wins the payout.  The captains did vote on an additional 10 points for the playoff win.  So the max a team could win during the playoffs is 18 points.  This way, the lower seeded teams have a chance to be in the money if they win their playoff match.  Ties for the playoff will be broken by a putt off on the practice green.  Eric or Lou will determine the putts.

7.  Play Day:  Play Day will be held on September 7th at Foxford Hills.  Doing it early will give us more time to make it up in case we have inclement weather as we did this year.

Captains, please let me know of any changes to your roster.  If you are going to add an 8th player or change players, we’ll need: Name, HCP, Email Address & Cell Number.  PLEASE help me out and get me the information ASAP (NO LATER than 3/22/19).  My weekends are shot after today and I have a crazy amount of travel the next month and a half and I will only have a few days to get this all organized, so again-please help me!!

Thanks

Eric

Update from meeting in November 2018:

Meeting recap: 2018

1.  Eric & Lou will speak to Foxford & Prairie Isle about their rates for next year.  Lou & Eric also speak Quentin about their promises they didn’t keep in terms of their overall customer service.  If we aren’t happy with the responses, we’ll consider bagging PI.

6.  We all voted to shorten the season to 18 weeks, with a new format.  The season will have two separate halves of the season, with payouts for each half and a Playoff Championship at the end:

First half of the Season

First half of the season will start on April 25th and go thru June 20th (9 Weeks)

We will have Payouts for the teams that are in 1st to 4th place.

Second half of the Season

The second half of the season will be a whole new season.  It will start on June 27th and go thru August 29th (9 Weeks)  Note: The week of 4th of July will be off and we might still consider doing something fun, which we’ll discuss in January’s meeting.

Again, we will have Payout for the teams that are in 1st to 4th place.

Playoff Championship

Below is just a preliminary idea, and again we’ll discuss in our January meeting to come up with the final plan.

The Playoff Championship will be only one day, held on September 5th.

The two winners of each half of the season are automatically in the Playoff Championship.  The Playoff 1st seed ranking would be determined by the half season winner with the most points in their perspective season.  Then the other team would be the 2nd seed team in the playoff.  The other 4 playoff teams will make the playoffs by having the 4 highest cumulative points from each season.

One thing I thought about after the meeting that might be pretty fun, is the team that wins their playoff match, instead of getting the 2 points as we normally do, maybe make it 5-10 points for the playoff win.  This way, if the 6th seeded team takes down the 1st seeded team, then they’ll have chance to get in the top 3 payout positions even if they had low cumulative points for the year.  Just a thought and we can discuss in January’s Captains Meeting.

7.  Play Day:  Play Day will be held on September 7th.  Doing it early will give us more time to make it up in case we have inclement weather as we did this year.
